Last Saturday was a great sunny day, and there was nothing better to do than to take part in my latest fitness challenge. Being part of the #swimathon15 #blogsquad team was a pleasure, and I am proud to say that again I managed to complete another fitness challenge, my number 3 #swimathon challenge.
By the way, already planning to do it again next year, but with my 8 year old daughter Isabelle!
This year I was training more than last year as I set myself a challenge to get out of my comfort zone of swimming breaststroke, and go for #2.5km but swimming only front crawl.
Can you spot me?
After about 3 months of intensive training I was confident I could do it, and also once managed to do so in 1 hr and 1 minute when training in my local Bushey Grove Leisure Centre. Unfortunately the time they offer for the Swimathon challenge is on Saturday evening, which I did the first time back in 2013, and for me that is the worst part of the day to do any exercises so I again went for the Watford Central Leisure Centre instead.
I am proud I completed the challenge, but of course as it happens it is very different on the day, with all the people in the lanes I did not managed to beat my personal best, which I was a bit disappointed about (also my watch was saying something different), but only for a moment as soon I realised that it was an achievement for me and most importantly that I am again doing it to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, and hopefully will reach my target if not more.
Now it’s your time to show me your support!

Thank you!
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Swimming is something that I’m not confident about yet and learning hasn’t been a priority. But after marathon training is finished, I might get some lessons.
I’m not a water baby – so am in awe of anyone that swims without stopping! 🙂
Great achievement Mirka! Well done lovely lady…very inspiring and I may just get my goggles out now! xx
Well done, that’s a great achievement! I’m not a very strong swimmer so don’t think I could ever complete something like this x
Everything is possible, and it’s all about training. You have to believe in yourself 😉
wow what an accomplishment! Massive well done and o hope next year is a big success for you and your daughter that’s quite something for an 8 year old to do!x
Thank you. I agree, and as we will be doing it as a team, I count on swimming most of it, but will try to encourage her to swim as much as she could!
Wow! 2.5km, that’s amazing! If I can manage 10-15 lengths of the pool in one go I’m pleased. this really is a great achievement x
Thank you Sherry, I would not be able to do so without a training. I started with swimming less than 10 lengths front crawl, and slowly build it up. Give it a go!
Great achievement. Swimming is not something that comes naturally to me so I’m a little bit in awe of this distance.
Thank you.
So proud of you gorgeous, an inspiration to us all x #fitnesstuesday
Thanks hun for all your support and donation too!
Congratulations! Very inspiring!! I really must learn how to swim properly! I’m at the pool twice a week but that’s to sing humpty dumpty sat on a wall and see my kids jump into the water 😉 xx
Put your little ones in the creche and jump in! Swimming is awesome 😉
This is just brilliant and a great idea for a post! I’ve just sponsored you and a huge thank you for doing it x
So you have been that special elf? Thank you so much!

This is SOOOO massive and I’m so proud of you – well done again!!! Hope you raise your target amount honey and thanks for linking up at #sharethejoy x
Thank you Michelle. Raising the target money will be probably a bigger challenge than swimming 2.5km! thanks for your donation!
Massive congratulations again honey, always knew you could and you’ve done your entire family proud xoxo
Thanks Uju for all your support and all your donations. Cannot wait to catch up soon!
