I have never considered myself a fast runner. You might remember me training for the Venice Marathon last year, and completing it in 4:30 hours. That’s not fast, that’s average.
For me the most important thing is to complete and ENJOY the actual race. to be honest until 2 weeks ago I never felt the need to improve times on short distance runs.
Then I was sent the TomTom Spark Cardio + Music GPS Fitness Watch (RRP £189.99) for a review. It was not one of those products you get offered every day. I was actually lucky and read a review and commented, and then was contacted if I would be interested to see for myself what this gadget can do.
That’s probably why I was so excited to start using it, and can honestly say that I am in love with it, and have not taken it off except when it needs charging!
I used to run without music until last summer when I was preparing for my 3rd marathon, and suddenly felt the urge to run while listening to music.
That’s why I am very pleased that the TomTom Spark I was sent comes with cordless headphones and also 30 minutes preloaded music “Running TRAX”, a tailor-made mix of dance anthems from some of the world’s best DJs, curated by Ministry of Sound, which is absolutely to my liking!
Setting up the actual watch and pairing it with my MacBook Air and iPhone was a breeze and no complications at all. I like when you buy a product and you can literally start using it within minutes without any glitches.
The TomTom Spark has everything I need, an integrated music player, built-in heart rate monitor, 24/7 activity tracking, multi-sport modes (very useful for my spinning classes and swimming) and GPS which makes it easier than ever to track my progress, improve overall fitness levels and ultimately get more from my workout!
Despite me not ever being worried about beating my personal bests, I have managed to improve my PB time on my usual short 5km EVERY TIME I have been since using this watch. I am getting addicted to it, and love seeing all the info I need while running and trying to get better, faster.
One of the things I also want to mention is that many fitness watches I have seen or tried that have lots of features are bulky. This watch is quite light and the straps fit perfectly around my very slim wrist, and I had no problems tracking my heart rate at all.
It’s fantastic not to spend ages to attach a heart rate strap to monitor my heart rate like before!
At first I thought it would be hard getting used to sleeping with it to track how much sleep I get, but it was not the case. It actually feels strange when I take it off for charging or when having a shower after my workout.
I am just at the beginning of my new fitness journey, and am learning every day how much more to get out of this fabulous gadget! It’s great checking my progress on my laptop but also on my iPhone via the MYSPORTS mobile app.
