Last few days have brought some more sunshine in our lives, which means me and my family spend much more time outdoors than in previous cold months.
I tried to stick to my running routines as much as possible, but due to fighting a nasty chest infection I was wiped out for the whole of January and most of February.
That was the reason why my training for the Paris Marathon did not go well, and sadly I had to make the decision that this race was too much for me this year due to lack of time for training.
I have trained for a marathon 3 times before, and know that I need to train for 3 month fully to be ready. I did not want to risk any serious injuries, and really think that this was the right decision, and I am not ashamed of it. I have another big race planned for the beginning of July, and will reveal more once everything has been approved.
Have you ever planned for a big race and then had to make the decision not to do it for some reason?
Anyway, spring is in the air and I love wondering around the local woods which we literally have on our door step! This is literally right behind our garden gate. Sometimes I feel like in the secret garden, and both girls love playing and exploring the Great British outdoors.

I was sent some amazing sportswear by Columbia a few weeks ago, and have finally had a chance to give it a proper test.
When you go tracking with your family, you will certainly need some proper waterproof trail shoes. The women’s CONSPIRACY™ IV outdry trail shoes are super light, and very soft inside. My feet felt very comfortable, but firm and I really enjoyed wearing these.
WOMEN’S CONSPIRACY™ IV OUTDRY TRAIL SHOE £80.00
The colours are also great as they match my new Columbia women’s COMPASS POINT™ hoodie in teal colour. This hoodie is also very useful on my morning runs when it’s still a bit chilly. Love the little thumb detail any runner and adventure explorer will appreciate. It’s very soft on the inside, a very comfortable hoodie with built in Omni-Wick™ sweat wicking technology.
WOMEN’S COMPASS POINT™ HOODIE £75.00
The last piece I was kindly sent was a women’s trails EDGE™ fleece jacket in white, which is my most favourite item. In a few week’s time we will be camping with our friends, and this will be definitely packed with me to keep me warm at nights while sitting outside. I can also imagine wearing it when skiing under my ski jacket as sometimes, especially when the temperatures hit minus 5 or 10 degrees Celsius, I do feel a bit cold in it.
WOMEN’S TRAILS EDGE™ FLEECE JACKET £35.00 – £55.00
Anyway, this is just a fraction of what Columbia have on offer. Go and explore their website and tell me about your favourites!
