This week’s gallery theme is “yellow”. My little two year old Olivia absolutely adores yellow, so we painted her bedroom in that colour despite me being against it at first as I do not really like this colour, but have to agree that the result is great.
As this blog is about fitness, I am presenting you an image of a banana I had after running my usual 5km every second morning instead of my daughter’s bedroom.
Top fitness tip: Remember to get your energy levels back after exercising. Bananas are great fitness food before, during or after a workout! I had plenty when running the London and Prague Marathon, and always have a few at home. They’re also packed with potassium, which may help with muscle cramps during exercise. Bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B6 and contain moderate amounts of vitamin C, manganese and dietary fiber.
Looks like a picture from a pro shoot – I’m impressed ๐
Fab picture chick, now I want a banana. I know and love your blog of course but came here this time from #blowyourownbloghorn x
you ate them whilst you were running the marathons? did they hand them out?
I’m starting to struggle, every Friday I’m running about 16k but at about 9k I can tell I’m hungry. I’m not sure whether to by some gels. I can’t imagine stopping to eat a banana and not getting stitch.
Absolutely, they were giving out chopped bananas, salt and sugar. I personally could not dip it in salt (to keep water in your body) or sugar, but if you eat them slowly and really chew, you can do so while running. I hate stopping and find difficult to get back into pace. I will be blogging more about me running the marathons, but absolutely you need to get some energy back when you run such a distance. I use gels/chocolate/jelly beans if I run for more than an 1.20 minutes, and then top up every 25/30 minutes. You need to experiment and find out what works for you. You will feel the sugar rush after eating something and feel like you need to speed up, but don’t try to keep the same pace ๐
Did my first long run (16k) today since we spoke about this so I thought I’d let you know how it went I had a small handful of gummi bears at 8k and 12k and it stopped the tummy rumbles. I think it helped me mentally and you are right I did feel a bit brighter physically too. Thanks.
Fantastic to hear that, and thanks for letting me know about your updates.
Yum! I love bananas!
How about some banana bread?
Love a yellow banana!
Me too, can you tell?
Nice tip you give out there and nice take on the theme. No one can deny it’s yellow ๐
Very true Mari ๐
Great shot…. the best fast food around
Mollyxxx
Absolutely!
What a great picture and it’s a lovely bright, happy colour, but I can see where you are coming from. Glad it all worked out x
It did, and actually really love the shade of yellow we went for.
Well this is a post for the boys, Ezra’s fave colour is yellow and Jed’s fave fruit is banana! In fact he saw this pop up on my Facebook stream and instantly was like ‘mum, what’s that banana for?’ So now I can tell him ๐ Thanks for the tip x
Thanks Uju, glad to see some people learn from my posts too ๐
Great tip, wish I could run as I really need to get fitter.
Start with power-walking (very fast walking), you can build it up, and start running soon.
Bananas! Bleurgh!
I know how good they are for you (and I make my kids eat them!), but they are one thing I really can’t stand! I’m good and always refuel after running too (although it *may* involve chocolate!).
Ha ha ha, I know not everyone’s favourite. My older daughters starts gagging when she sees/smells bananas!
ha ha, that’s a GREAT take on the theme!
Thanks “Gallery lady” ๐
