Next Sunday will be pretty special for me. I will be at the start of the Malaga Marathon, and can’t wait. Last 4 months of intense marathon training will hopefully lead to another great adventure while pushing my body to run the legendary 42.195 km again.
This is going to be my 5th marathon and my very good friend from the Czech Republic will be joining me. We have known each other since we were 14 years old, and I know that running with her through the finish line will be very emotional.
Whether you are a marathon newbie or not, once you start running longer distances you will need to fuel your body while out and about. Thanks to my husband who loves cycling I have come across THE CLIF BAR® RANGE a while back.
When this well-known brand contacted me to check out some of their new products, I happily agreed. Not only I love their products but also the brand’s ethos. Family and employee-owned, the company is committed to sustaining its people, brands, business, community and the planet.
FEED YOUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Crafted and inspired by athletes and foodies, CLIF BAR foods are great tasting nutrition for athletes and adventurers. Designed to be used before, during and after physical activity.
Committed to its ethos that good energy leads to better experiences, CLIF products inspire outdoor adventures and help athletes feel and perform their best.
With a wide range of tastes and formats available, CLIF products have been purposefully crafted with wholesome and nutritious ingredients without artificial flavours and synthetic preservatives.
CLIF BAR
Twenty-five years ago company founder, Gary Erickson was inspired to create a truly nutritious energy bar following a gruelling 175 mile bike ride.
Today CLIF BAR is a great-tasting energy bar made with wholesome ingredients like organic rolled oats, providing the optimal blend of protein, fat, fibre, and multiple carb sources.
I enjoy munching on a bar before my long runs and my favourite flavours are Chocolate Almond Fudge, Coconut Chocolate Chip, and Crunchy Peanut Butter.
CLIF BUILDER’s
CLIF BUILDER’s is a high protein bar that has been crafted to specifically help active people achieve total body fitness. With an optimal blend of high-quality protein, carbohydrates and fat the product should be consumed after workout to replenish energy stores and support muscle recovery.
It is made with ingredients such as oats, peanut butter, cocoa and contains 20 grams of soya and nut proteins. Available in 3 flavours – Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
CLIF BLOKS ENERGY CHEWS
I absolutely LOVE the CLIF BLOKS Energy Chews. These are the latest nutrition option for endurance athletes, providing carbohydrates and electrolytes.
They are semi-solid and easy-to-chew. Available in five flavours – Black Cherry, Margarita Citrus, Mountain Berry, Strawberry and Tropical Punch.
CLIF SHOT ENERGY GEL
Any performance-oriented athlete needing an easily-digested source of carbohydrates and electrolytes during a race or training can use CLIF SHOT Energy Gels. My favourite flavours of the CLIF SHOT Energy Gel are Chocolate, Double Expresso, and Mocha. Always use with water.
I also appreciate these are smaller than some energy gels I have previously tried, and are easier to fit in my side pockets on my running capris.
This week is all about saving my energy for the big run, fuelling my body and relaxing. I have started packing and have also made sure I have a few Clif Shots and Bloks Energy chews packed for the actual run. It’s nice to have a few different flavours to spice up the big run.
By the way, last week I was offered a media guaranteed place to run the London Virgin Marathon 2019. Of course, I happily accepted. What an honour. Cannot believe I will be able to run it again!
And how do you feed your outdoor adventures?
I’m just about to embark on training for my first marathon, so need to start trying out a few options for during my run. My husband swears by Clif Bloks, but I know that I can’t take more than four for a run. I’ve run lots of half marathons before, but have never tried fuelling, so this is all new to me! Good luck with both of your marathons!
