Last weekend was full of my 40th birthday celebrations, and except having an amazing time with my family and friends I also took part in 5km Race for Life in Cassiobury park in Watford. It was me and two of my best friends running along with our daughters and sons.
As you can imagine there was no way I would aim for my personal best after quite a few birthday drinks the night before. I think the most important for me was to support this charity event & run with my friends and be there for my daughter Isabelle who was very keen on running the whole thing (without any training).
We woke up to grey skies and soon it started raining. That is the worst weather for me, but I did not complain once.
As you know I have become the Kiqplan ambassador and been using the Kiqplan Race for Life app. I have also been sent a Fitbug to check out, and honesty can tell you now that my training is much more focussed thanks to all the reminders and keeping track on what I have done, need to do, etc.
I love being reminded I need more sleep, and always can see a huge difference when I exercise after a good night’s sleep. I will be blogging about the app soon and will also be giving away a Fitbug, so watch out for the giveaway soon!
Anyway, back to the race. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and after saying a goodbye to Olivia who is only 3, we started queening and getting warmed up for the race.
I was running with Isabelle and one of my friend’s daughters as we were faster than the rest of the team. Soon after 2km the girls started asking where the finish line was, and I had to laugh.
Then there was lots of encouragement going on from my side to help the girls run and walk 5km, and we completed it in 44 minutes.
If I remember well, I ran my first 5km in Hyde Park in 27 minutes 5 years ago, and it’s always different running on your own or in a crowd. Will have to sign-up for another 5km to see if I can beat the time!
Running with my daughter was so precious to me, and I was so proud when we were holding hands while running through the finish together.
I can see my daughter as a future running star, she really is talented and I will encourage and support her as much as I can.
