My life’s motto is: “enjoy everything in moderation”
I used to complain about school holiday as they get in the way of my fitness routines, but soon I realised I had to come up with alternative ways to keep my fitness up.
When we stay here in London, I usually try to fit my runs in the evenings when daddy is home from work. We also take both girls swimming at the weekends, so I always make sure daddy takes over and has them so I can swim at least 50 lengths.
We love spending school holiday by the sea, and last Xmas we were very lucky enough to escape for 10 days to Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic.
The sea was lovely and warm, and me and the girls spent lots of time swimming, splashing and playing water games. It all counts, I love resting and getting tanned, but cannot do so for a very long time, plus both girls keep me very busy.
Luckily I also packed my goggles and swam deep into the sea. It felt awesome, and I also managed to see some fish. Isabelle joined me too, but because of the waves she did not manage to swim very far, but she tried hard.
When booking our family holiday, we always make sure there is a kid’s club for children with plenty of activities, gym and also fitness classes on offer. What a better way to relax and unwind than on a yoga mat by the sea?
Walking is also another way how to keep fit, and can be done as a great family activity on your holiday!
I have tried many different tips on how to survive holiday and stick to my fitness routines, but it’s only been in past 3 years or so that I managed to master this.
The only way to do this is to keep on moving and working out, staying active. If I don’t have time for my run on the day I normally do, I make sure I go for a run the following day. The feeling after you finish your workout is unforgettable and you can also burn all the extra calories you consume on holiday!
Nothing can beat a lovely run along a stunning beach!
How do you keep your fitness routines when on holiday?

We tend to have active holidays as no one in the family can tolerate sitting still for very long. I once had to train for a marathon through a holiday and I’ll avoid doing that again as I felt I ‘had’ to go for a run rather than relaxed holiday running looking at the sites; it’s a great way to really see a place. Loving those plan trees! #FitnessTuesday
PALM trees even!!
Ha ha ha! I got that lovely!!! I remember that from your twitter feed! Agreed, would probably plan a marathon before our holiday…. still on the lookout for my next one!
Your holiday looks amazing! Hope you had a wonderful time. Can’t grab your badge on my mobile so will link up later. x
It truly was, and no worries, anytime. I am actually early with the linky this week! x
WOW what a fab place to keep fit in! The beach is so inspiring. The sound of the waves crashing. 🙂 Fab photos. Glad you had a nice holiday xx
Thank you. I know, it was amazing to run along the beach in Punta Cana.
Sounds like you had a good break!
We surely did. Thanks for stopping by!
How amazing to have such a great treat – your holiday looks fab! I’ve just got back from a few days away where I only left the shade of the sun bed for a sangria or paella! And you know what? That’s how it should be sometimes, I think. It’s definitely back to the exercise classes for me now…so that I can relax on my next break! 🙂
Ha ha ha! Well I prefer to workout during my holiday, but love slowing down too.
I love how you managed to continue keeping fit whilst on holiday. i always try to do lots of walking or swimming x
Thank you. It has taken me a few years to get there, but so worth it. Yes to walking and swimming!
I know that feeling when you NEED to do a workout, but sometimes I agree that it’s good to have a rest. I try not to stress too much about not exercising while on holiday. We always do lots of walking where ever we go and we always manage to track down a gym if it’s a long holiday of 10 days or more! 😉 x #FitnessTuesday
Absolutely! Glad you agree!
